	For decades, the Pathfinder® program has been the premier measure of productivity in the Angus breed. To be named a Pathfinder® Dam, a cow must calve for the first time within thirty days of the average age of first calving in the herd she is part of and then she must breed back and calve with a 365-day calving interval at least three times with only a 30 day grace period throughout her productive career. Also, the natural calves she weans must have an average weaning ratio of 105 or better in contemporary groups of at least 10 head. Born in 1997, the first daughters of New Design 1407 were born in 1999 and they calved for the first time in 2001. In the 2007 Pathfinder® Report, there are 804 daughters of New Design 1407 that are eligible to be named a Pathfinder® Dam and 104 of those qualify – a remarkable 12.9%!
